Home safe Sunday night. wet & cold.

Thank you to all participants of this years assault. Lots of great comments and thank you from all. Many said that they cannot wait for the next assault, I am one of those wishing for the next two years to go fast. Thank you to Thommo, Sandy & Pete for leading section of the routes ( a great job).

Well, today I made the 3rd attempt to fit the Stebel Nautilus horn (blew the last one to pieces in Adelaide).

Ordered a new one last Sunday night, was delivered to work (Perth) from Brisbane on Wednesday morning. Nice service.

Fitted it up Wednesday night...looked fairly good. Rode to work on Thursday and was not happy with the interaction between the front guard and the Stebel. Back into it on Thursday night, seemed better this time.

Friday morning....nope. Damn thing was flailing in the breeze. Bloody hell.

So this morning, took the left main panel off to have a better crack at the bracket it was mounted to. Found the trick. Mount the Stebel first, then put the fairing back on. Bit of a biatch at times aligning the holes.....but, we got there in the end.

Gave the ol' girl a birthday and used Pete's recommendation of CT14. NICE. Most of the crap just fell away. 2nd coat around the grimy areas and some extra attention with a soft bristeled brush and a microfibre sponge I have, and she looks a treat. Definitely will have to claybar/polish and seal the paint work soon. it is very 'bug splattered' on the leading panels.

Tomorrow she gets a transfusion of Penrite, check the coolant level and she's good to go. When's the next ride guys?

Steve, would you have any pics of your Stebel mounting handiwork that you could post? I'm keen to add some "oomph" to the pathetic standard horn, particularly as recently I was nearly cleaned up on a roundabout when some lovely lass decided she had wrong of way...

Or...I may yet go Young Ken's route and mount the horn to my Canyon Cages.
